2013 Masters Preview

The 2013 Masters are mere days away, and the past year has just flown by. The remarkable start to the 2013 PGA Tour season with weather delays, Tiger returning to form and Rory battling to gain form, compels us all to see this first major of the 2013 play out.

Although it’s been 5 years since Tiger won a major, back in 2008 at Torrey Pines, he’s looking better than ever so far this year. He is a 5/1 favorite with Ladbrokes to win, putting him at far better odds than most previous years.  Thanks to Steve Strickers his putting is making it clear that he’s made some fantastic improvements which may be exactly what this year’s Major comes down to, in the end.

It is easy to see that Rory MCIlroy is not the same Rory we’ve seen in past year’s even though we’ve only had the pleasure of witnessing him tee up a handful of times. Last year he got off to a dominant start, earning his ranking as the world’s No. 1 player. He continued to dominate throughout 2012 winning the PGA Championship at Kiawah by a merely 8 strokes. We’re all waiting to see if he dominates at Augusta.

It was amazing to see Bubba Watson win in such a dramatic fashion last year, and I’m sure he’s planning quite a meal for this year’s Masters Dinner. For a  defending champion, Bubba has been quiet so far this season, but will certainly be strongly defending his title.

Let’s hope that Augusta puts an end to the bad weather streak that has stricken the tour so far this year. Georgia’s beautiful weather this time of year should put it to a stop. We’ll just have to wait and see!
