Earlier this week Tiger’s plane was spotted at Chambers Bay. What is Chambers Bay, you ask? Chambers Bay is a golf course in University Place, Washington, just outside of Seattle. Tiger hasn’t won a major in several years, and Chambers Bay is hosting the 115th U.S. Open Championship later this month. Looks like Tiger is doing whatever it takes to compete this year.
Tiger hasn’t won a major since 2008 when he won the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course. Remember that tournament? He beat Rocco Mediate on a broken leg. No, seriously. His leg was literally broken. Anyway, Tiger has been at Chambers Bay for a couple of days now, and spent several hours making his way around the golf course. Matt Ginella was there today, actually, and was sharing some of Tiger’s practice round on Periscope. Matt was talking to some locals watching Tiger practice, and from what I was hearing, Tiger is hitting the ball well, isn’t hurt, and looks ready to win.
But will he win? Every time Tiger plays people ask, “Is he back?” Where did he go? I mean… It’s been a long time since he won a major, but a lot has happened since then. I won’t go into details about his personal life, but Tiger is finally healthy. He looked good at Augusta and is headed to Muirfield Village Golf Club for the Memorial Tournament later this week. I just told Sheryl, “If Tiger is in contention this weekend, our plans change on Sunday.” Ha!
His next major is coming. He knows it, too. But do you think he can get it done at Chambers Bay? I hope so!
