Last weekend I wanted to play some golf. I started looking for tee times online, and found a good deal for Lookout Mountain Golf Club over at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. I have actually stayed there, but had never played the course. I was also excited to learn that Troon had taken over management, as every experience I have had at a Troon facility has been world class. I grabbed some buddies and booked a tee time.
When I arrived at the golf course, I didn’t really know where to go. I was looking around, and ended up parking in the wrong parking lot. When I realized that I was in the wrong place, I called the resort to ask for directions. They were eager to help, advised me where to park, and I was ready to warm up. I headed to the clubhouse, and was handed my scorecard. I was also handed a layout of the golf course. Not a lot of courses offer this, and I ended up using it several times throughout my round. Listed were hole distances, yardages from certain areas to the front, middle, and back of the green, and an overview of the hole. What impressed me most were the hole names. I LOVE it when a golf courses names the holes. I was so excited about this, I wanted to share the hole names with you here. They are listed below:
- Roadrunner
- Thunderbird
- Branding Iron
- Unforgiven
- Quail’s Run
- Six Shooter
- Lookout Mountain
- Coyote Canyon
- Rabbit’s Nest
- Picturesque Pointe
- Snake Pit
- Double Cross
- Horseshoe
- Gunslinger
- Oasis
- Pointe In Thyme
- Sundowner
- Tapatio Cliffs
Like I said, every Troon course that I have played provided an unforgettable experience. From the complimentary range balls to the Troon branded golf carts and golf tees, they never miss a step. I had a lot of fun playing the golf course, and there are a few holes that I will never forget. Especially the ones I birdied! If you are in the Valley and looking for a fun layout, check out Lookout Mountain Golf Club.
