Right now Jessica Korda’s on the top of my list of hot golfers. The 20-year old, Rolex ranked #24-year old pulled a steady, consistent world-class game out of her bag last week at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, the LPGA season opener, put it to work, and notched her second pro win. And she outplayed Stacy Lewis, the top-ranked golfer in the event, teen phenom Lydia Ko, and South Korean Na Yeon Choi.
Perhaps better known for firing her caddie in the middle of the 2013 US Women’s Open, dragging her boyfriend out of the gallery and putting him on the bag for the remainder of the Open, Korda was cool, calculating, and controlled at the Pure Silk. Her mental game was completely dialed in, and it showed in every putt.
Can she keep it up? We’ll know soon. She’ll go up against Lewis, Ko, and Norwegian Suzann Pettersen at the Australian Women’s Open and then against Lewis, Ko, Pettersen and golf’s top ranked player, South Korean Inbee Park at the Honda LPGA Thailand.
