Long Drive competition from Baltusrol

2016 PGA Championship Long Drive competitionThe 2016 PGA Championship is this week. Wait… Didn’t we just finish the 2016 Open Championship? Yep. The Ryder Cup is coming up, too. Oh, and the Olympics. But don’t worry about the Olympics. Not many TOUR players will be there. They’ve all backed out.I digress. Today there was a long drive competition Baltusrol Golf Club, host of this year’s PGA Championship. The photo above… That is the collective Protracer TV results from today’s competition. Let’s talk about that. (I stole that line from Good Mythical Morning, a YouTube channel I am obsessed with. They say that before every episode.)

First off, for this particular competition, it only counts if you hit it in the fairway. Looks like most of these did. Except for one… See that snap hook there. I guess these guys really are human! Some other highlights include a 345 yard from from Rory McIlroy. After he hit his drive, he flexed for the crowd. There has been a lot of talk of him lifting too much weight and gaining too much muscle. Well, didn’t seem to hurt him today.

In the end, Korea’s Byeong Hun An came out on top. With this win, he was awarded a $25,000 donation to a charity of his choice. McIlroy had to settle for a silver money clip and a $15,000 donation, with Nicolas Colsaerts winning a bronze clip and $10,000 for third after a drive of 341 yards.

It promises to be an exciting weekend of professional golf. I recently hurt my hand, so I won’t be playing this weekend. I know Tiger isn’t playing, but I might watch some of the action on Sunday. We’ll see!

Who do you think is going to win the 2016 PGA Championship?
